Frequently Asked Questions

Please email WisconsinPaddle@gmail.com with any questions.

None required! I’ll teach you basics before launch: how to paddle, stay balanced, and handle the water. Just be comfy floating in a lifejacket (pfd) and able to swim a bit.

Wear quick-dry clothes (no cotton—jeans get heavy), water shoes or sandals, hat/sunscreen, light rain jacket. Bring: water bottle, sunglasses, camera (waterproof case helps), and an extra dry layer. We provide kayaks, paddles, lifejackets (pfd), dry bags. Your feet might get wet—pack like it’s a beach day.

I prefer a group of six or less. That way everyone can ask questions and hear my instruction. I do accommodate larger groups upon request.

I check forecasts obsessively and we only launch if it’s safe. If waves kick up or storms roll in, we reschedule or refund.

Cancel 48 hours ahead: full refund. Within 24 hours: half back (stuff  happens). No-shows: no refund. If we cancel (weather, etc.): full refund or reschedule.

Yes —Children are the best kayak partners but the minimum age is five years old. Twelve and under ride tandem with an adult. I keep it fun and slow. Bring snacks — they tend to get hangry out on the water. We have children's universal sized gear. If you have your own pfd consider bringing it.

Somewhat —at least enough to paddle twenty minutes straight. No marathons. We go slow, rest often. If you can walk a mile without huffing, you’re golden.
